Get to Know Oregon’s Foodie Places: Wineries

Spend a little time with an Oregon winemaker and the conversation will eventually end up in the dirt.

In Oregon, winemakers are farmers, and they get really stoked when talking about soil. They’re also passionate about drainage, heat indexes, and microclimates. It’s all part of the terroir that defines Oregon wine, and why you can spend a day exploring one of our wine regions and never taste the same wine twice. But, whether you’re sampling Pinot and Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley, Syrah and Tempranillo in the Rogue Valley or Cabernet and Merlot in the Gorge, you’ll notice one thing: they all taste like Oregon. Exploring the wine country can take awhile, so why not spend a night or two in an intimate inn?
